Mission statement




In the spirit of Service, Not Self, the mission of the American Legion Auxiliary is to support The American Legion and to honor the sacrifice of those who serve by enhancing the lives of our veterans, military, and their families, both at home and abroad. For God and Country, we advocate for veterans, educate our citizens, mentor youth, and promote patriotism, good citizenship, peace and security.


                 HISTORY




Founded in 1919, the American Legion Auxiliary is the world’s largest women's patriotic service organization. With a membership at nearly 800,000, local American Legion Auxiliary units have a strong presence in more than 9,000 communities nationwide. The American Legion Auxiliary’s mission is to support The American Legion and to honor the sacrifice of those who serve by enhancing the lives of our veterans, military, and their families, both at home and abroad.

When Are Meetings?


The Auxiliary meets on the 2nd Thursday of the month (except July).  We will break away after dinner when Post 6 opens the Legion meeting.



Our Current Programs:


  1. * Americanism and Poppy activities with Lonnie B. Nelson Elementary.


  1. * Sock Drive for Vets: White socks are preferred.  There is a box in the American Legion lobby for your donations.


  1. *Stuffed animal collection: The auxiliary is also collecting small clean animals to be given to local police and fire departments for distribution to children during and after emergency situations.


  1. *Girls State 2016 was a great success!  Looking forward to Girls State 2017!


  1. * Bingo at Dorn VA Community Living Center on the first and fifth Saturdays each month.

                     Did you know?

If you are eligible to join the Auxiliary as a spouse, then your daughters and granddaughters are eligible as well. 

Eligible girls can join as Auxiliary Juniors for $5.00 a year.  They can be a Junior from the very day they are born until their 18th birthday!
